Terms of Service

Your account

You sign in via GitHub or Google. Keep that account secure. You're responsible for what's done from your MíngWay account. We reserve the right to suspend accounts engaged in obvious abuse — scraping, automated review-spam, content that violates the AI provider's usage policy, etc.

What MíngWay provides

A Mandarin learning app with HSK decks, spaced repetition, writing practice, an AI tutor, and (when available) pronunciation scoring. We try to make the service consistently available, but we don't guarantee 100% uptime — you've used the internet before, you know how this works.

Plus subscription

• Plus is a recurring subscription billed by Stripe — monthly or annually depending on the plan you pick.
• You can cancel anytime via Settings → Plan or Stripe's customer portal. After cancellation, Plus access continues until the end of the paid period; we don't pro-rate refunds for the unused portion.
• New subscriptions include a 7-day free trial. You can cancel during the trial without being charged.
• Pricing changes are announced at least 30 days in advance. Existing subscribers keep their original pricing through the end of their current paid period.

Content

The HSK catalog, grammar library, brand assets, and product code are MíngWay's. Don't copy, scrape, or rebrand them as your own. User-generated content (custom decks, imported word lists, shared decks) remains yours; by sharing publicly you grant MíngWay a license to display it to other users. AI tutor responses are AI-generated; treat them as a study aid, not as authoritative linguistic claims.

Things we don't do

• Sell your data.
• Train AI models on your conversations or notes.
• Run ads or surface-tune the experience around engagement metrics.

Liability

MíngWay is provided "as is." To the extent the law allows, we're not liable for indirect or consequential damages — lost study time, missed exams, the disappointment of a non-fluent year abroad. If a court finds we are liable for something, our total liability is capped at what you've paid us in the previous 12 months (zero, for free users).

Termination

You can delete your account anytime via Settings or by emailing us. We can suspend or terminate accounts for breach of these terms. If we terminate without cause and you've prepaid for a subscription period, we'll refund the unused portion.

Changes

We may update these terms. Material changes get a notice via email or in-app banner. Continued use after the effective date means you accept the change.
